Complete a biodiversity assessment
Identify the variety of plant and animal species in and around your setting. This will enable you to plan actions you can take to improve the biodiversity of your setting.
Identify and monitor key biodiversity indicators
Use the results of your biodiversity assessment to identify specific plants, animals, or other ecological factors that you can use to monitor overall biodiversity health in and around your setting.
Increase governor and SLT awareness of the importance of biodiversity
Educate your decision makers about the significance of improving biodiversity in and around your setting. This creates a foundation from which to build your setting's approach to improving biodiversity.
Arrange biodiversity training for your estates and site staff
Biodiversity training should help your estates and site staff carry out, understand and interpret biodiversity survey and assessment activities. This will enable them to identify quick wins and ultimately lead to more effective management of onsite and local ecosystems.
Build a whole-setting awareness of biodiversity
Educate everyone at your setting, including your staff, children and young people, and parents (where appropriate), about the importance of biodiversity and actions we can take to support it.
