About

Explore funding opportunities that can help you develop and deliver adaptation and resilience projects across your setting. Grants may support projects that help your setting prepare for the impacts of extreme weather, including overheating, flooding and water scarcity.

Funding could help you create or improve measures such as:

  • Green infrastructure, including green roofs and walls
  • Sustainable drainage systems (SuDS)
  • Rain gardens and water management features
  • Shade and cooling measures to reduce overheating
  • Planting and other measures to improve resilience to heat and flooding

Why

Adaptation and resilience projects can help your setting prepare for the long-term impacts of climate change, making your site more resilient to extreme weather.

Measures such as shade, sustainable drainage and green infrastructure can help reduce the risks associated with overheating and flooding, while supporting a more comfortable and resilient learning environment.

How

You will probably need to involve your estates or premises team, although some smaller funds may be designed for teaching staff to apply for.

Before applying, make sure you:

  • Have capacity to maintain projects longer term, such as green walls or drainage features
  • Check planning requirements, including any additional requirements for listed buildings
  • Check eligibility carefully, as some grants give additional consideration to special schools, while others may have different criteria or priorities
  • Read the terms and conditions carefully and can meet all the funder's requirements

For special schools: check whether the funder or organisation offers any additional funding pots specifically for special schools.

For groups: Settings will often need to apply for funding individually rather than as part of a group, so check the eligibility criteria carefully.
