Increase learners' awareness of green careers

Green skills and careers are those that contribute to preserving or restoring the environment and our planet. It's important to spread the awareness that all future careers will likely need an element of sustainability and green skills embedded into them, in order for us to transition into a lower carbon world.

Raise awareness of this among your learners, and provide opportunities for them to gain those skills. This is important to instil throughout a learner's education, applicable in different ways from early years through to higher education.

Use the results of your green careers audit to guide and influence the content and depth needed, and review it regularly.

These steps will help to drive interest and equip learners in their future roles to contribute positively to a sustainable future. It can also have the added benefit of raising awareness amongst staff members of the ways they can embed sustainability into their current role, or take on a role in your sustainability team.

This is a fast-paced, evolving agenda, and it will be necessary to keep up to date and revisit this on a regular basis.

Create a list to save actions and resources, or make a plan for your setting.
