Join a local or regional sustainability network to learn from peers, share inspiration and discuss challenges.
Connecting with other settings, or people in the same role, can give you access to practical experience and solutions from others facing similar opportunities and challenges.
Why
Most settings face the same operational, financial, and educational barriers - networking means you don't have to reinvent the wheel.
Sharing resources, expertise and good practice can reduce duplication, build capacity and help maximise the impact of your sustainability work. You may find you’re not alone in the challenges you face, and that connecting with peers helps build your confidence to tackle them.
Networks are also a space to celebrate and share successes, whether small or large.
How
Look for networks or groups that are relevant to your role or setting - this is more likely to connect you with like-minded peers.
If you belong to a MAT, nursery group, or college network, check whether an internal collaboration group already exists.
Encourage colleagues in different roles to join their relevant networks, to widen your setting’s pool of expertise and resources.
You do not need to join every available network - a small number of active connections is likely to be more valuable.
