Collaborate with your significant suppliers on biodiversity

Engage with your significant suppliers about their practices related to biodiversity. Discuss the importance of biodiversity in your setting's sustainability goals and express your interest in working together. This is particularly relevant to your estates and grounds maintenance suppliers.

Identify ways you can collaborate, such as habitat restoration and ensuring sourcing of sustainable materials and equipment. This can create a positive impact on wildlife and ecosystems locally and globally.

Taking this approach will help you to reduce the environmental impacts associated with landscaping, maintenance, building works and other estates and grounds operations. For non-estates or grounds suppliers, you may find this approach can create opportunities for local biodiversity projects that benefit both your setting and the wider community, such as tree planting initiatives.

Benefits include promoting environmental stewardship, progressing towards your setting's biodiversity goals, and creating real-world learning experiences for your learners.
