Your plan should be informed by the findings of a waste audit and set out clear actions, responsibilities and targets for improvement. It can cover topics such as waste reduction, recycling, food waste, procurement, asset management and community engagement.

This plan can help you prioritise actions and allocate resources effectively to achieve environmental improvements. It supports compliance with waste requirements, reduces environmental impacts and can help lower disposal costs. Having a formal plan also ensures that sustainability objectives remain visible and that progress can be monitored over time. How
Use the findings from your waste audit to identify priority areas for improvement and set realistic objectives. Establish measurable targets, such as increasing recycling rates or reducing general waste. Assign responsibilities to relevant staff and identify any training, infrastructure or budget requirements needed to deliver improvements.
