Integrate biodiversity learning opportunities into trips

Incorporate biodiversity learning opportunities into the annual cycle of trips. For settings with little to no outdoor space, this is an opportunity to introduce this topic to your learners.

For existing trips, you could add activities that focus on nature, wildlife, habitats, or conservation. If you have the chance to influence the planning of new trips or changes in destinations, try to include elements like visits to nature reserves, wildlife sanctuaries, or local parks, with guided tours and interactive sessions. Consistently advocating for these changes will have a positive impact over time.

Such trips and activities provide hands-on learning experiences that complement classroom education, encouraging curiosity and appreciation for the natural world. They can also help to move forward your current biodiversity aims by driving motivation and engagement from learners and staff. Overall, the aim is to empower learners to become future stewards of the environment through engaging and memorable outdoor learning trips and opportunities.

Create a list to save actions and resources, or make a plan for your setting.
